Does anyone have any clue on what this could have been that I have coughed up?

ok for about a week i had a sore throat. No other symptoms just a sore throat, now for the last 2 days it was sore and kind of itchy. I am a social smoker. And my throat was so sore I did not have my social cigarette at all during this time. I am a medical istant student so during cl i volunteered for a stept culture ( testing for strep throat) and it came back negative. My teacher did say i had some bleed in my throat though. When i got home my throat got itchier so i snorted to scratch it and then i felt something come up a little bit so i hacked and coughed and out came this thing. I kind of resembled one of those shells and cheese pasta noodle but maybe 3 times bigger. It was thick and kind of spongy. I saw that it was a little blood tinged but not much. I really cant describe the color it was kind of like a dullish yellowish brownish color. The part at the opening of the (shell) was harder than the rest and a bit thicker. I started to take it to school or my doctor but out of curiousity i manipulated it and smashed it flat, then it dried up and began to break so i decided not to. I know for a fact that this was not food. This was nothing i swallowed not to mention if i actually swallowed this even not even knowing what it was i would have choked. Oh one detail i forgot to mention although may be a duh but I was also covered in mucus, normal colored mucus. And IMMEDIATELY after this came out my throat stopped hurting. At first it felt like something was missing in the back of my throat but then i just figured that was probablly because I had been in pain for a whole week and the sudden relief was akward. If i had to guess I would say it was either something from my lung or some part of it. Or a hardened build up of mucus but I would like to know what you guys think. Or if you have experienced this yourselves.
