Do I have to get my wii chipped?

I'd recommend that you softmod your Wii. I've soft-modded it on 3.4 as well as 4.2 and both work fine. The website provided is the one I used and it will show you EXACTLY how to mod your Wii without a modchip. You should be able to play games from any region as well as backups using backup loader.
